Two Factor Authentication on a IOS Device

Two-factor authentication is available to iCloud and iTunes users with at least one device that’s using the latest iOS or macOS.

Here are the minimum recommended system requirements for all devices that you use with your Apple ID:

  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that uses a passcode, with iOS 9 and later 
  • Mac with OS X El Capitan and iTunes 12.3 and later
  • Apple Watch with watchOS 2 and later
  • Apple TV (4th generation) with tvOS


A. For iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch 

  1. Turn on two factor authentication in Settings.
         i. Go to Settings > Your Name > Password & Security
         ii. Tap Turn on Two Factor Authentication
         iii. Tap Continue
  2. Enter the Phone Number where you want to receive verification codes when you sign in.
  3. Click Next. Apple will now send a verification number to the number you provided.
  4. Enter the verification Code to verify your phone number and this will turn on two-factor authentication.

B. For Mac

  1. Open iCloud > Sign In >  Account Details. 
  2. Click security
  3. Click turn on two factor authentication 
  4. Set us up as Trusted Number click here for how to do that.
